Hands of God

Our big bundle of Joy

We are thrilled to announce we now have another member of our little family.  Miraculous is the word I would choose to describe everything the last week.  Because the adoption will not take place till July we cannot post any pictures or names here or on facebook.  It is fairly killing me to not be able to show him off but rules are rules:)

Spencer and I have been talking the last few months about how much he has wanted another little brother.  He really has been anxious for it.  He has been the kid to tell us when the next child will be joining our family.  He started asking about his baby brother when he was 1.  He prayed for baby sister and 9 months later Grace.  I have asked him over and over if he had prayed and asked Heavenly Father for a brother, the answer was no.  Stubbornly refusing for months, and months, and finally right after Christmas he decided that he would ask and boom two days later...a call.    If you need anything prayed for let Spencer know-he seems to have a direct line in.  I told Joe last month that we would be getting a child in January(I was a day off)

It is amazing to me how Heavenly Father compiles families together.   Each and every child in our family coming in such different and miraculous way, and so meant to be here with us.  Their roles so unique and valuable.  Even if they are only with us here on earth for a short time.  I am grateful for all my children's influence in my life.  I know know know that James was helping us the whole time to find our little guy.

We had half an hour to pray about whether this was what was best for all of us.  We have been very excited but cautious about what we wanted to put our kids through, since they had already been through so much.  Joe and I prayed about it and felt pretty good.  We then went and talked with Spencer and Grace.  We explained the situation and then they prayed about it.  I will always remember Spencer's response,"  I don't care about anything else, I will love him."  Grace was a little disappointed that it was not a brother and two twin sister like she wanted but she was probably okay with it. We said "YES!"

After saying yes it was like the flood gates opened for me.  We have done adoption, we have done the hard way(Birth), now foster care.  In each process you get this overwhelming feeling of love for your little ones.  We are in that bubble of love right now and it has been wonderful.  My love for this little guy has been growing every day.  Before we met him, we went to the temple, we started to pray for him and prepare our house and family for him.  We returned home and had to change bedrooms around.

We put up Spencer and James's old bunkbed.  That was a lot hard.  It still takes my breath away when I think how we took it down the night after James died.  That bunkbed was a place where to brothers played and messed around, and laughed, oh ya and slept a little.  One of the things they used to do was take off the top mattress and slide it down over the top rail and use it as a slide.  Not easy to put back together. That used to frustrate me finding their room and bed destroyed.  Now I am secretly hoping it happens again in the future.  I am comforted knowing that our family was together before we came to earth.  That we knew and loved each other, and that we just have to wait to be all together again soon.  I know James is so close sometimes.  I know he is watching Spencer and our little guy laying on the bottom bunk laughing hysterically at the song "I'm a little teapot" and he is probably singing along, and laughing with them.  I know he is happy for the healing going on for both the boys as they help each other feel loved.

On the ride home from picking him up, I was content to just sit and absorb everything that was being said.  Turns out he is really quite funny.  He had us all laughing a lot.  It was cute to see him go from being kind of somber to grinning and giggling.  The kids were soaking each other up.  It was a little piece of Heaven.  I fell a little more in love with him.

He has been brave and perceptive.  He is kind and thoughtful.  He is close to the Spirit.  He is hilarious.  He is thoughtful and gracious.  He is very very sweet!!  He is blond and blue green eyes!  If you picture a nose like Spencer, eyelashes like Grace, build and hair like James, you can picture him.  He is the perfect combination of everyone. Oh and he is three just barely, and all that entails:)

Yesterday we went out to our swing set,(a hand me down, hand me down) pretty old and rusty.  He wanted me to swing with him in my lap.  Should have guessed it wasn't the best idea, but you know me.  We hadn't been swinging long when the whole swing broke.  We both ended up bottoms up on the ground.  My ego and tailbone severely bruised.  I was really concerned that I had fractured trust with him by dropping us(however unintentional)  I picked him up and realizing I was kind of shaken up too so I just sat down on the grass and held him while he cried a little.  I told him I was so sorry and was trying to console him when he started to belly laugh.  I wish you could hear it.  It is one that makes you laugh with him.  He thought it was the funniest thing that we had bonked together.  We sat on the grass and laughed and laughed for 15 minutes.  We probably looked a little nuts, but it has been one of my favorite moments.

We have decided that instead of sharing his story that we will just let you meet him and find out for yourself what kind of kid he is -AMAZING!!!!   We are so blessed to have his darling self in our home.  I can't wait for you all to meet him.

If all goes as planned (paperwork, and judges schedules)  We hope to finalize in July and have him sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on July 30th.  Our fourteenth wedding anniversary.  I told Joe this will be the closest thing to a family reunion for us as it gets here on earth.  All of our children will be at the temple with us, ALL!!!!  That is an exciting thing to look forward too!!!

I have felt Heaven close this past week as we have found our boy and he is finally home!  I have been thinking about this song this week and I am grateful for the grander plan that has sent him here to our family.

I think this song is perfect to describe how we feel about this journey.  I am sad for the time that we have been apart but so grateful to have him in our home now!

As with any person joining your family there are times that you feel overwhelmed at the responsibility and weight of the task.  I heard this quote on Tuesday and the tears started falling.  I love knowing that all of my children in the Hands of God.  Some more literally than others. He will definitely strengthen my efforts as a parent and pick up my weaknesses.  I am so thankful for this knowledge!
